Historical Sites
Bespoke private day tour

From Bannockburn to Culloden, Stirling to Holyrood, Scotland's story laid out across a single bespoke route. Walked properly, with a guide who knows the difference between the marker stone and the field where it actually happened.

Scotland's history is layered the way the rest of the country is layered: castle on top of fort, town on top of abbey, road on top of drove. A good historical tour does not just turn up at the visitor centre. It puts you on the ground at Bannockburn before the school groups, parks the vehicle on the lane that overlooks the actual battlefield at Culloden, and walks you through Holyrood at the time of day Mary, Queen of Scots, would have walked it.

We work with academic guides where the brief calls for it, with private estate access where we have it, and with the visitor experience where it adds something. The best day is usually a combination. We will plot it for you, send the route in advance, and brief on the road through the day.

For history readers, family genealogy travellers, military-history enthusiasts, schools and university groups, and clients chasing a specific clan, region or era. We work back from what you want to learn, not forward from the postcards.

What is included

How a historical sites day works.

Every journey is private and built around the travellers. The notes below are how we think about a day in this style. The day itself is yours to shape.

I.

Battlefields, walked

Bannockburn, Culloden, Sheriffmuir, Killiecrankie. Time on the ground with a guide who knows where the line actually held.

II.

Royal sites

Holyrood, Stirling Castle, Falkland Palace, Linlithgow. Booked ahead, briefed on the road, walked at sensible hours.

III.

Country houses

Scone, Glamis, Dunnottar, Falkland. Private estate context where we have the contacts, public visits where we do not.

IV.

Clan & ancestral

We can plot a day around your family seat, your clan ground, or a specific register-house visit. Done quietly, on your time.
